40-Year-Old Cold Case

In May, KYK9 continued to work a 40-year-old cold case that we started last year. The dogs had found forensic evidence, but scientists have been unable to obtain DNA from the old sample. Nearly a year later, the police reached out and wanted to search the area. KYK9 has worked several cold cases with Towson University and we joined forces once again. Nearly 40 Towson students and university staff travelled from Maryland to Kentucky to search.

The grateful parents of the missing teen (who would now be in his fifties) came and met with the students who then worked for three days in sweltering heat. With impressive dedication and determination, the students cleared an acre swath of the wilderness floor. No additional evidence was found, but they helped further narrow the search area and are a wonderful resource that KYK9 offers law enforcement.
