K9 Scout Enjoying Retirement

KYK9 has much to report this year. We have been filmed by a television show, won a national award of merit, were asked to search the Himalayas for missing WWII airmen, and successfully worked challenging cold cases.

Most significantly, K9 Scout, KYK9’s founding K9 and inspiration, retired this year. I was not prepared for her retirement as she had been working joyfully and successfully. Always a powerful, strong, and healthy dog, K9 Scout seemed ageless to me and that was true for 15 years. While she is still playful and happy, she can no longer work in the field. It has been very, very difficult for me to lose K9 Scout as my working partner.

But as she has done since she was a puppy, K9 Scout is leading me on another new journey. As for KYK9, K9 Scout has taught her sisters well and our good work continues to get better and better.
