Searching for Murder Victim Missing 26 years
KYK9 was asked to work a 26-year-old cold case out west as a result of KYK9 team members, Jennifer Jordan Hall and forensic anthropologist Cheryl Johnston, making a presentation at the National Sheriff's Association Annual Conference in New Orleans.

40-Year-Old Cold Case
In May, KYK9 continued to work a 40-year-old cold case that we started last year. The dogs had found forensic evidence, but scientists have been unable to obtain DNA from the old sample.

National Water HRD Certification
In early March K9 Pocket and I attended an HRD water class near Lake Erie. Oh my! It was bitterly cold. When we worked the shoreline, Pocket waded without hesitation into the ice capped water.

Kentucky Colonels Award Grant to KYK9
In September, the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels awarded KYK9 a grant to buy a heat safety alarm system for KYK9’s truck.

38-Year-Old Cold Case
Sam was a teenager who went missing around 1980. More than a decade after he disappeared, a serial killer on death row confessed that he had murdered Sam. He drew a map indicating where he had dumped Sam's body, but his body was never located.

K9s Scout, Remy and Pocket Inducted into KVMA Animal Hall of Fame
The Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association inducted K9 Scout, K9 Remy, and K9 Pocket into the KVMA Animal Hall of Fame at its 2018 Mid-America Veterinary Conference.

Year In Review 2016
2016 has been the “Year of the Family” for KYK9 as many requests for our search services have come directly from families who are desperately trying to find a missing loved one. Each of these families has shown strength, courage, and love, coping with the not-knowing and the fear of never finding their loved one.

Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels
We have exciting news! KYK9 is the recipient of a 2016 grant provided by the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. This grant will provide a search boat that will be used by K9s Scout, Remy and Pocket to find missing persons in rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water.
